As a candidate, everything can feel new and overwhelming. The transition from graduate student to full-time counselor is more than most people imagine. You will find yourself wondering why your professors did not tell you about some thing or another in school nearly daily. Candidates need a supervisor that helps walk alongside them on the journey as they grow in confidence and clinical skills. That supervisor supports the vulnerable experience of growing and works to reflect both when they do well and when they have a growing opportunity.

I have worked with a number of staff watching them grow into amazing clinicians. I have worked in a wide variety of areas in our field including private practice, in-patient with youth and adults, and small to large agencies. I enjoy working with children, families, and adults in ongoing, crisis, and co-occurring services. I have been an administrative/on-site supervisor at Northcare since late 2019. I enjoy helping clinicians find ways to support their clients and grow in all aspects of this work. I find that direct immediate feedback is the most helpful way to communicate about challenges as well as achievements both in your work as well as in the supervisory working relationship. I believe that counseling needs to fit the client and will encourage candidates to try different evidence-based techniques and modalities to build their toolbox of skills.

I primarily use cognitive behavioral therapy in my work but enjoy learning new techniques and modalities and can adapt to any style. I believe in using a strengths-based, trauma-informed perspective in working with clients and encourage all who do this work to honor the vulnerability our clients show just by showing up for sessions. If you want a supervisor who encourages self-care, boundaries, ethical decision-making, ongoing learning, and collaboration I may be a good fit for you.

Central to my approach is the belief that supervisees should approach supervision and therapy with curiosity and an open mind, continually seeking growth and development within the profession. Fostering a playful atmosphere in supervision, utilizing techniques that encourage exploration and creativity to facilitate supervisee learning and personal development.

As a seasoned Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) offering supervision to candidates seeking to enhance their skills in the field I fully understand how difficult this road can be and would love to work on making it smooth and enjoyable. With a strong foundation in Adlerian Theory and in working with children as a Registered Play Therapist (RPT), I hope to bring a unique perspective to the supervision process.

My goal is provider a safe nonjudgmental space with a bit of sarcasm and support with a commitment to helping supervisees navigate the complexities of therapeutic practice. Through tailored guidance and feedback, I hope to empower supervisees to hone their skills, deepen their understanding of therapeutic principles, and cultivate their unique therapeutic voice.
